Chemical Protein Synthesis
Chemical Protein Synthesis (CPS)
We synthesize peptide fragments that are then “stitched” together to give the full length linear protein
The linear polypeptide is then folded into the protein
Recombinant protein synthesis is restricted to the 20 known amino acids.
CPS has no such restrictions
Using CPS we can add in virtually any post translation modification, non-natural amino acids, PEGs, lipids and in any position in the amino acid sequence
