Chemical Protein Synthesis

Chemical Protein Synthesis (CPS)

  • We synthesize peptide fragments that are then “stitched” together to give the full length linear protein

  • The linear polypeptide is then folded into the protein

  • Recombinant protein synthesis is restricted to the 20 known amino acids.

  • CPS has no such restrictions

  • Using CPS we can add in virtually any post translation modification, non-natural amino acids, PEGs, lipids and in any position in the amino acid sequence
